Welcome to the Lions website for the National Memorial Day Parade! On May 25, 2026, for the 18th year, once again the Lions of the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia participated in the parade to honor our fallen heroes. The Lions are among the many organizations that sponsor the parade organized by the American Veterans Center. Lions participation in the National Memorial Day Parade is made possible in part by a grant from Lions Clubs International.

The 2026 National Memorial Day Parade, presented by Boeing, was brought to you by American Airlines, official airline of the National Memorial Day Parade, American Battlefield Trust, Lions Clubs International, and by the State of Qatar. In 2026, the Lions were inspired by International President AP Singh's theme, "Lead to serve. Serve to lead." It reflects the heart of Lionism, stepping forward to serve others, and in doing so, become leaders in our own communities.
In 2025, Past District Governor Woody Woodard "retired" after 17 years as the Co-Chair of the Lions at the National Memorial Day Parade. For all who know Woody, they know he remains active in advising the Joint Multiple District 22/24 Parade Committee.
In 2024, the Lions participation in the National Memorial Day Parade honored the memory of Lion Bill Strauss who passed away in September 2023. He served our country in the United States Navy for two years during World War II as an Aviation Electronics Technician's Mate (AETM) / Petty Officer 2nd Class (PO2). He was a member of the Libertytown-Unionville Lions Club for 50 years and served as the Registrar for Lions participation in the National Memorial Day Parade for many years.
